A Father's Heart

Boo Boo

A Poem by Bob Cooper  ·  Coop's Corner

Time moves in one direction, but love doesn't follow the same rules.
This poem is for a little girl who grew up — and took a piece of her father's heart with her.

My little girl, it hasn't been that long —
I just turned around, and it was gone.
Now a mother, you with little ones,
Holding memories of all that we've done.
Memories of that smile as I twirled you around,
Now a smile for another man, another sound.
He twirls you and your little ones —
I am happy… oh, but my heart still longs.
When my heart grows sad and counts up the cost,
Those little ones look up — and all is not lost.
As life moves gently from old to new,
God is faithful, and life is renewed.

Life has a way of moving faster than our hearts are ready for. But in every season — the joyful ones and the bittersweet ones — God remains faithful.

"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."
— Psalm 30:5
