A Personal Testimony

His Little Curse Breaker

By Julie Cooper

One Sunday my pastor was teaching on "who will be in heaven." At one point he spoke about Hebrews 12:1, which says:

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses…"Hebrews 12:1a

He talked about the witnesses β€” our loved ones and friends who have gone before us, the dead in Christ. He described them looking down on us, seeing all that we do. He talked about his father looking down, perhaps turning to the other witnesses and saying, "That's my son." And his mama, watching over him with love.

As I sat there, I got a little sad. I thought to myself, No one I know of is looking down at me and saying, "Did you see her? That's my ___." Now don't get me wrong β€” God is all I need. But I have to be honest: in that moment, I felt a little alone.

That night, in the quiet of the shower, I was thinking and talking with God about the day. I thought again about the cloud of witnesses, and I started to tear up. The feeling of being alone crept back in.

And then God gave me a vision.

You know when you were in school and someone important was coming to speak, and you were too small to see them over all the heads in front of you? That is what I saw β€” a great room, filled with people, and I could not see past the crowd.

Then God spoke to me: "Little One, My Curse Breaker β€” for all the orphans who come to heaven, those who were generational curse breakers with no others before them, they sit with Me at My table."

With tears in my eyes, I looked around the room again in my vision. I saw fathers with daughters, mothers with sons, aunts with nieces β€” tables as far as I could see, filled with family.

As I slowly turned to my own table, I lifted my head and looked straight into the eyes of my Lord.

And He smiled at me. And He filled me up.
